1976 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV

Our Alfetta GtV was purchased on eBay from a Seattle-area private seller in March of 2008. We had the car moved to Group2 Motorsports for some rehabilitation work prior to bringing it back East. A new windshield was installed, front brake calipers replaced, and the front end was attended to - including a new steering rack.

With the Alfetta in road-worthy shape, we flew out to Seattle and drove her back to Connecticut in June of 2008. The trip is discussed in the Road Trip section.

I was told by a previous owner that the Alfetta was the recipient of parts from several west coast donor cars, with the transaxle, rear hatch and anti-sway bars among the "upgrades". Externally, the big change was adding euro bumpers. They still need better attachment (side brackets) , and addition of the proper overriders, although the front one no longer droops as in the photos here.

Most interesting of the previous efforts was the conversion to an aftermarket EFI system. While the car as bought was quite roadworthy, but she burned 11 quarts of oil on the trip east, had trouble idling, and generated some bucking at neutral throttle. Oh, and the starter and the water pump failed on our way east...

Since returning east, the engine has been rebuilt - replaced actually, with another Alfetta GTV engine I bought and rebuilt. She pulled 120 hp at the wheels during a dyno run to set the EFI at max throttle. A wide-band O2 sensor was added during the engine rebuild to help with the EFI mapping (which is still not spot on).

The only body work I have done was to clear out the debris behind the front wheel wells and do a proactive restoration for the front floors. What is needed now is a good repaint. She will probably never deserve a show paint job (saving those $$$ for our Duetto), but I am considering a pass through the local Macco facility. Here is an AlfaBB thread discussing the body work thus far:

This lovely Alfa was sold to another Alfisti. I understand it has moved on yet again, was painted, and up for sale again. Getting better with each passing owner!
